No, only one code is required. Simply provide the 4-digit reward code (located on the Rewards tab) for redemption. This will allow you to claim your free item while also earning points for any products you purchase. The same applies for deals; use the 4-digit deal code to save and earn points automatically for products you purchase during that transaction.

Are there any purchases that do not qualify for points?

You will earn points for qualifying purchases where an active reward, mobile offer, or promotional offer is redeemed. However, you will only receive points for the actual amount spent in U.S. dollars during the transaction. You will also earn points when using a McDonald’s Arch card to make a qualifying purchase.

The following purchases are not considered qualifying and will not earn any points:

taxes, bags and bottle fees,
other surcharges or fees,
loading any money on a McDonald’s Arch Card® (gift card),
and delivery fees for orders placed using the McDonald’s app.
