Pros

  • “I love how easy it is to share large files with WeTransfer. There aren’t many good ways to share very large files with someone else, or even to move them from one computer to another.”
  • “It is a tool that makes your life easier, in addition to being super fast and easy to understand, it perfectly fulfills its function even using the free option.”
  • “WeTransfer’s upload speeds are super fast, making wait times hastle free. Another great feature is that you can plug in the email you’d like the file to be sent to along with a personalized message.”
  • “ALso, i love how they are using this to present a lot of nice content wich makes for some nice reading while waiting for something to upload or download.”

Cons

  • “Sometimes you can drag and drop files, but sometimes it does not work as needed. Sometimes a lot of strange background appearing.”
  • “We’ve switched over to WeTransfer after having problems with Dropbox and Google Drive. Files were getting lost or not downloading properly.”
  • “It will be unfair to give negative aspect. The only thing that you should be aware is that is you are sending more of 2GB per transfer you may be request to go on the “Plus” service.”
  • “The 7-day limit on downloads sometimes catches me by surprise, a Pro account sorts this. It’s not a major headache, just an occasional slight annoyance.”

“The most simple and straight-forward file transfer service”

Overall: On my day-to-day basis, I use WeTranfer, and as a game developer I manage several assets, builds, and broad files. WeTransfer never disappointed me at all. It greatly enhanced my workflow to be so intuitive and quick that it has never been so easy to share files with customers with a few clicks.

Pros: Honestly, this service is very simple and intuitive. Only a few clicks and it delivers flawlessly, focusing on what it’s meant to bring. Even the ads came up with an elegant approach that I never knew it was ads until recently! They use beautiful and imaginative pictures and images, despite covering the entire screen. Beyond that, you just drop your files, press “Move” and that’s it. There’s no need to sign up or leave any personal information. Being able to do so, of course, has its limits, such as the 2 GB file limit (which is not a real restriction for most people) and some other unique features.

Cons: The file cap per day was the only negative factor I had to worry about, but they eliminated it! You can now move unlimitedly (you still have that 2GB file limit though).

Switched From: Dropbox Business

Reasons for Switching to WeTransfer: The big dog of file sharing/transfer services was Dropbox. Not today, for me at least. The termination of the public folder role was what made me turn to WeTransfer. Of course, Dropbox is different from WeTransfer at its heart, it addresses a different question. Yet most people use Dropbox because of the “simplicity” of file sharing. Ok, WeTransfer has revised the concept of “simplicity.”

“The FTP Go-to”

Overall: Our bacon was saved during the lockout period by WeTransfer. We did not have access to our local file server when operating remotely, so we relied heavily on WeTransfer to pass files between both the design team and the client.

Pros: I love WeTransfer’s ease, it’s not too hard, just click and drag, add an email+ post, and your files are booming. Another cool thing is that you don’t need an account for the receiver to update, only press and download. The email notifications also allow us to keep track on whether the file has been downloaded or not by a client. Cons: Protection is a problem. In particular, we have one customer who refuses to work with WeTransfer as they consider it to be insecure. I can comprehend this. Although I love its simplicity, it can also be a problem. So, if anything, they might be able to add a security feature that records downloads or locks them in a way that can only be downloaded by the intended user.

Switched From: Dropbox Business

Reasons for Switching to WeTransfer: Most clients didnt have Dropbox accounts so it became problematic.

“Make file sharing easy use WeTransfer on your next design job”

Overall: The ability to share BIG files quickly with ease!

Pros: I work in fashion design, a [SENSITIVE Material HIDDEN] for file sharing has introduced me to this platform. First of all, it’s free, with no need to buy something. Second, I was amazed that during WFH, I could share a very large textile print file so easily with colleagues. I used a Google connection in the past and saved it to my Google drive, but I found it to be boring. This was as simple as creating and checking an account. After that, you will start sharing all sorts of files to co-workers worldwide. In exchange, they get a connection and can download it upon receipt, so the recipient does not have to register. No zip required, only ready to download and ready to use.

Cons: If you pay for the service, the main con can be easily solved. If you use the “free” programme, the file must be downloaded and saved on your computer. The connection sent in an email has a time limit and if you do not save the file, you could lose your details. Often, when exchanging a file, an error message is received and can not be sent. Currently, I just open a new browser to fix it.

Switched From: Drive

Reasons for Switching to WeTransfer: It’s easier to set up, and when I submit just 1 piece of artwork. I do not need it on my drive to take up storage.

“Essential Data Transfer Software”

Overall: I don’t think you can go wrong with WeTransfer, I’d fail to find someone who doesn’t use this on a day-to-day basis in the creative industry. Without it, I can’t go.

Pros: I like WeTransfer’s simplicity, there’s absolutely nothing confusing about the interface. I’d be shocked if some were puzzled about it. I personally really love the touch of showcasing artists working fullscreen when you come to the page as a creative user.

Cons: Only problems that I often have with WeTransfer will fail to upload or download when I suddenly lose the Internet connection. With the window of time to reconnect, some other programme appears to be a little bit more lenient.
